The dangers of texting while driving are tremendous. Wisconsin, among other states, is taking a
stand on the issue in hopes to make roads safe.
On December 1, 2011, Wisconsin joined 30 other states in
enacting legislation that prohibits behind-the-wheel texting. Texting while driving is seen as a primary
offense, which means you may be pulled over and ticketed based on a text
message offense alone; these fines could reach $400.
The AAA reported that additional findings have shown that individuals
who text while driving are more than 20 times (!!) more likely to be involved
in a crash than non-distracted drivers.
In addition, according to a new survey from the Insurance Research Council, 31% of drivers aged 16-24 said they texted while driving and 41% of
drivers age 25-39 -- compared to only 5% of drivers 55+ -- reported texting
while driving.
